Q DISCUSSION 1 - WEEKLY PICK A SONG 04 No unread replies. No replies. So we made it to a fourth installment of the Weekly Pick A Song...woohoooooo))) As was the case for the previous installment: 1. Pick a song from the list of albums/artist you chose in your Top 10. Either: o Upload it. Click on the "Record/Upload Media Button" in the tool bar above the text box. Then click the right "Upload Media" tab. Then find your song and click upload. o Add a link to a URL. Click the "Link to URL" button above and then copy and paste your file link in the text box and hit "Insert Link"...These links can be from anywhere that does not require log ins so best to keep it to YouTube or I think Spotify may work) 2. Once you have added your choice, tell us why you picked that particular example. AND PLEASE DO NOT JUST SAY BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT!! 3. Pick at least two of your peer's choices (that you have never heard of) and give a response: what did you like or dislike about the choice, anything unique that stood out, would you recommend it to others, etc. HINT: You don't always have to like something to make a good review. In fact I find you can talk a lot more about things you dislike. BUT do not just say "I hated the song," or "it sounded like ass". What was the assness of the music? MY 4th WEEKLY CHOICE Tool is the greatest band EVER)))). I have chosen a track from their album Ænima (pronounced ONima not enima or anima). For those of you who are familiar with the album my choice may be a bit unconventional. I am not choosing the more famous tracks on the album instead going for the song entitled, Die Eier Von Satan. The song is "sung" (spoken word actually) in German. If you know anything about Tool they are very philosophical, somewhat political, ironic, and very intelligent. From the non-German-speaker's perspective (pretty much the target audience in the US), the song is viewed often as parody of a Hitler rally speech. Maynard James Keenan (lead singer) even intones the song in a more "Hitleresque" manner and even the backtrack has a crowd cheering in effigy at his exclamatory parts. What the song is really about is Maynard reciting a dessert recipe he concocted called The Balls (eggs) of Satan which in fact is nothing more than hash cookies without eggs. There is a whole philosophical/racial/and anti Nazi sub-context but that is for another class.

Song number four that I am going to select here is “Mr.Tambourine Man” by Bob Dylan from his album Bringing It All Back Home. It seems like I have been listening to this song from ages. I particularly like the rhythm of this song and the slow monotony of the music. I know that nobody likes monotonous music but for this particular song the monotony is the appeal of it.
